Abstract

This semester I have developed a common lab final for the BIO 160 sections offered here at EMCC. This common final will incorporate laboratory activities performed during the semester and is a cumulative final. The common lab final should serve to support similar curriculum across across all sections offered here at EMCC.

Results from this final will help me identify lab activies that need refinement as well as commonly misunderstood concepts from the class.

Results may also indicate differences between hybrid and face to face sections. The same examination will be given to both modalities.

What a great way to evaluate your hybrids to your traditional are to ensure they are getting the same experiences.

I definitely like this.  It's great to get data to help show the benefits (or lack of benefits) for alternative modes of teaching.  We need to continue to gather data like this to see what is best learning for our students.

What a great way to take a summative assessment and use it in a formative manner! I too look forward to your results. And, as one who has taught in all three formats (F2F, Hybrid, Online), I also look forward to your comparison efforts.

I've also taught using different modalities, but I've never done a study on the different outcomes...though I have always wondered. Like the others, I'm interested to see what the results will show, as well as what happens in the follow-up if changes need to be made for one modality or the other.

V interested to see how this works out with the two modalities compared.  Common Finals are very useful and great for quality control!
