Abstract

This assignment is for the online version of STO/HUM292 that has not been launched yet.

This is a performance-based class, so students are required to perform a story for their final exam. Students will record themsevles and then upload for grading. There is a set rubric students are to follow in order to demonstrate effective storytelling techniques and best practices.

Sydney, I look forward to seeing your results. Is the rubric established? If so, why not attach it to this CATS so others may benefit from your efforts? One suggestion I have is to have a video of an "A" story performance (perhaps one that you do) and post that, along with a video explanation of how it meets the criteria. That will give students something concrete to use.

Sydney, I would like to congratulate you for using what researches call an authentic assessment technique to measure learning.  This is a much richer set of "data" about how well students "get it" then a a multiple choice or even an essay could gather.  I bet the students have a lot more fun too.  To echo Pete though, how well you know if the student learned or or not, and how well you communicate your expectations to them?  Just trying to help you process this as you work on it.
