Abstract
To assess students understanding of major theories and content elements I have students present concepts with teammates, or Iearning teams . Students work with a team of 3 to 4 students and present once a week on a topic covered in the chapter we are discussing for that week.
I find that it keeps students connected, helps them manage nervousness they may experience when speaking in front of large groups. They have to check audience understanding by creating a way to involve all classmates.
Stuedents are given a rubric that we review at the start of the course and discuss the importance of peer collaboration. Students are able to get a maximum of 20 points for the presentation.

Tra, research suggests that when students teach concepts to other students, its helps them learn in more profound ways. Kudos! Would you mind sharing the rubric (you can upload as an attachment). Do you have any plans for measuring its success?
Greetings Mr. Singer
Thank you for your response to my post. I will be sending a rubric shortly. Measuring??? Good idea.
I appreciate your thoughts.

Tra - I too would like to see the rubric. Also, I sometimes have students in groups present to the rest of the class. How do you ensure equal participation of everyone in the group? (Maybe that is one of your rubrics . . .) All that said, I think what you are doing truly leads to more impactful student learning. If there were a way to measure the results (as compared to, say, student achievement before you instituted this practice), it would be the completed cycle.
