What is the Purpose of the Assessment?

To assess the PLO's for the three pathways supported by the Life Sciences Division and inform future curriculum development in each pathway/program.

Describe the necessity for this assessment

Understanding whether our students are attaining the outcomes we have developed for our three pathways/programs is important.  This assessment captures data to allow us to measure our students' skills when they enter our pathways and when they leave them.

Describe how the practice will be implemented

Using a common assessment in Canvas, shared via Canvas Commons and in Course Master Templates.   Student assessment data will be exported from Canvas, collected, combined and analyzed using Excel.

Interpret, compare, and describe the results

See attached file.

After analyzing, and reflecting on the outcome, what are the next steps?

We are revising our PLO's and modifying our assessment tool in Canvas to more effectively measure out stated outcomes.

We will be rolling the assessment tool out to additional sections (adjunct-taught) and capturing non-majors courses.
