SAC Closing the Loop Virtual Luncheon Fall 2020

What is the Need/Assessment?: 

Faculty developing an improvement plan with institutional learning outcomes(ILOs) and classroom learning outcomes(CLOs) data in our dashboard, Tableau.

Describe the necessity for this change: 

In October 2020, EMCC faculty and staff reviewed ILO and CLO data.  We had a total of 21 participants attend at least one of the luncheons.

Describe what will be (or was) implemented to affect change: 

During our two virtual luncheons, we presented the Spring and Summer 2020 ILO and CLO data and compared data from previous semesters.  At the luncheons, we found common themes to begin conversations with our faculty and staff about data trends.  We shared with faculty and staff members:  the more data we have we can more accurately find common themes.  

Interpret, compare and describe the results of the change: 

Faculty and stafff who attended our luncheons were able to gain:

  1. Understanding about the difference between a institutional and course-level learning outcomes
  2. Familiarity with the Tableau dashboard
  3. Identify the steps contact the SAC Co-Coordinators to have their course-level learning outcomes set-up in Canvas

After analyzing the information, what are the next steps?: 

To bring the CLO and ILO data to EMCC committees and divisions to find what they want to focus on with the data.


In October 2020, SAC Co-Coordinators facilitated two virtual luncheons. EMCC Faculty and staff had to opportunity to review  ILO and CLO data.  The goal was to facilitate meaningful conversations about student learning.
