Kahoot is an assessment tool used to help students to improve their understanding in subjects. In this work, Kahoot questions were created in alignment with CHM130 curriculum.
Adjunct instructors do not have office hours. As a result, the number of contact hours with their students is limited. Kahoot exercises provide extra contact with the materials
In CHM130 a modeling instruction is adopted to teach the course. Even though multiple-choice question type is not matching modeling teaching philosophy, there are some topics in CHM130, multiple choice questions can assess the students such as the naming of chemistry compounds. In the last two years, analysis of the students' performance in chemistry compounds naming , especially transition metals, is below the average. Kahoot is introduced for extra practice.
The students’ performance in compound naming in the last four semesters will be compared with the students’ performance in the same topic after they practice the questions in Kahoot.
The integration of Kahoot in CHM130 instruction will be investigated. In this work, Kahoot will be developed to serve students in CHM130 in compound naming topic. Students performance will be compared in naming compounds in this semester with students' performance in the last two years. The study hypothesis stated that students in CHM130 who practice naming compound in Kahoot will score better than students who didn't practice naming of compounds in Kahoot.
