Abstract

In the Spring 2013 semester, five adjunct faculty mentees, four adjunct faculty mentors, and one residential faculty mentor completed the pilot of the innovative Adjunct Faculty Mentoring Program (AFMP). The AFMP is the research based Applied Integration component of the Adjunct Faculty Professional Development model that also includes Objective and Subjective Skills Development Workshops.  The AFMP is designed to transfer best practices to the classroom (partially learned in the workshops), and continously improve learning.  Assessment, including CATS, are important elements of the program.  The Spring 2013 AFMP was assessed through participant feedback surveys and an end of pilot meeting of participants. Results were very positive. Improvement suggestions included connecting mentors with each other to discuss strategies during the program to better serve their mentees.  The Spring 2014 cohort includes establishing these connections.  The program will be reassessed at the end of the semester.  Results: February 2014 Leadership Council presentation.
