SAC coordinators are looking for ways to improve opportunities for faculty and staff and reflect on the semester and brainstorm changes to make for following semester.
A common complaint amongst faculty/staff is not having time to brainstorm on what did and did not work. As a learning college, we need to promote collaboration and learning from each other.
An end of the semester luncheon was offered for the 1st time, in collaboration with the I Will Graduate committee, to discuss how to improve. The I Will Graduate committee members received feedback from attendees and brainstormed ways to increase engagement on campus with these events. The SAC portion of the lunchoen had people break up into small groups and discuss what went well, what didn't, come up with improvement plan, and how to assess the change.
Fifteen people attended and feedback was very positive (see attached). Staff from co-curricular areas and faculty both left with ideas to try in the Spring 2020 semester. Several people stayed after the luncheon ended to continue their discussions, and it was unanomous to continue this luncheon every semester. As assessment coordinators and reviewing prior luncheons over the years, this one is a must have for supporting a continuous assessment cycle.
This luncheon will be part of the SAC budget every semester. More advertisement, including reaching out to faculty and staff will, occur to recruit more people to participate. The Assessment Matters luncheon starts off the semester with a closing luncheon of "Now What?".
