What is the Purpose of the Assessment?

To ensure CIS105 general eduacation students, in all modalities, are on track for completion in their certificate or degree pathway program.

Describe the necessity for this assessment

As a reult of Guided Pathways, I developed an advising module to enure students meet with their advisor.

Describe how the practice will be implemented

Two weeks before Priority Registration students complete a series of activities, which include:

  1. the name of their advisor and the date student will meet with their advisor
  2. a pdf of student’s updated degree plan approved by their advisor
  3. a list of courses student will enroll in the next semester
  4. KLC Reflection activity

Interpret, compare, and describe the results

Prior to the activity, 40% of students did not know their academic advisor. 50% of the students made appointments with their advisor within the assignment period. 50% scheduled appointments in Nov., Dec. and the first week of January. Three students expressed interest in changing majors.  89% of students submitted certificate/degree checklists. As a result of this activity, 60% of students registered for spring classes.

After analyzing, and reflecting on the outcome, what are the next steps?

For Fall 2022, improvement stratgies include the following;

  • meet with advising to review the instructions to ensure students are being directed to the correct link to get their checklist. Also, will include pdf sample of the correct form.:
  • schedule this module one month out from priority registration so students have enough time to schedule advising appointments
  • develop questions for students to ask advisors

Hi Polly,

Thank you for submitting a CATS!

You did an excellent job personalizing the advisement process for your students.  I appreciate that you are introducing your students to a campus resource, and helping them through the process. I like that you had your student's list their advisor's name.  This helps remind them who they can connect in advisment.  Your postive outcomes show that your students responded well to this assignment.

Excellent work!

Catherine
